If a word in a passage or a book of the Bible is repeated so many times, that tells you that you need to pay attention to it. It is key word in understanding its main theme. In the case of Paul’s letter to the Philippians, the word joy. It seems puzzling that Paul would talk about joy so much under his circumstances – he was under house arrest for being so adamant about his faith in Christ. In a fast paced world where the value of things are regarded as transient and fleeting, reflecting on Paul’s letter to the Philippians will encourage us about the lasting quality of joy – joy in Christ, that is.
